I'm moving to OC this summer, probably Costa Mesa or Newport Beach. I'm researching apartments and trying to find something no more than 15-20 min at peak rush hour from my office (Jamboree and the 73).
So I'm wondering if the estimated travel times on google maps are fairly accurate for OC? I've been warned countless times by so many people about the traffic, but looks like traffic isn't too bad around Jamboree and the 73 according to google maps.
For example, Adams Ave and Fairview Rd to...
I'm planning a quick trip with my girlfriend and ideally we'd like something on the beach with a private cabana - doesnt have to be a huge stocked 8 person cabana, just a quiet one. We can go anywhere in OC or to San Diego....I think there was a hyatt in HB that had a cabana rental for hotel guests only.
Any suggestions?submitted by /u/kaysharona
Do you know of any good environmental conservation or animal protection/rehabilitation groups in the area that offer volunteer opportunities. In my mind, I'm thinking of groups like The Nature Conservancy (NCS), World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF), Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), etc. For the most part, these groups seem to only offer the option to donate, which is great, but I'd like to give more than just money. I'd like to donate my time to make a positive impact for a good...
So rent went up for me and my mom and its getting hard on us. So we want to try moving to Lake Forest (maybe), but not sure where a reasonable priced apartment would be. Something around 1800 and 1900 being the max.
Just trying to find a decent, nice, pet friendly apartment not too far from tustin/irvine area where we work. I'll be willing to commute a little bit if the apartment is nice enough for the price so doesn't exactly have to be lake forest.submitted by /u/RiskyDINGO
Hi all! I'm getting kind of desperate. My friend is a single father living in OC and had a job where the company royally screwed him over. Long story short, he is in need of a job as he is not making rent. He is a single father who has graduated high school and is a hard worker. He doesn't have too much experience but he has had experience in warehouses, quality inspection, and some odd jobs here and there. He is really down on his luck and so I'm trying my best to find him a job. He has...
Hello, I would like to know is there is a better way to commute from Santa Ana/Huntington Beach to UCLA/Westwood? I have a car but most have told me the drive is too awful. Thank you for your time.submitted by /u/Very_Toxic_Person
I have GAD and OCD (diagnosed by a professional, im not self diagnosing haha) and I am just having trouble. It really helps to relate to people who are struggling like I do. Online is cool but I really want to actually talk to people, commiserate, socialize, talk etc.
Anything like that here? Meetup has been hit or miss for me.submitted by /u/theanxietyguy1
One of my church members is a 21 year old male with autism. He was recently let go from his last job which was food prep at a kitchen. Would really appreciate some good leads. He's pretty sad about it and I'm not sure where else to turn to.submitted by /u/amadeusemanu
I have some gift cards for Target and my local store in Orange is less-than-exciting.
What's the nicest, biggest, best Target in OC?submitted by /u/WolfeHunter
I live in Huntington, I just accepted a job today that has me working in downtown LA for 3 weeks before coming closer to home.
I did a bit of research and it looks like I can get up at 6am and take a bus plus a Metrolink train to get to downtown LA in 2 hrs. It's kind of expensive -- about $300 a month for an OCTA bus pass and Metrolink pass, but it's cheaper than, say, Uber or Lyft (~$100/day). I looked up SuperShuttle but that goes to LAX, way out of downtown.
I'm just wondering if...

Hey guys, does anyone know where I'd be able to get a used car battery on the cheap for a 4Runner? I'm between jobs at the moment and need a car for interviews and such unfortunately.submitted by /u/crespoh69
Hi everyone, I'm graduating from a university here in Texas this May and will be moving to California the first week of June to begin a graduate internship in Orange. I'm looking for a place to live while I'm there but have yet to have much success. I was hoping someone could give me advice on good places to look for sublets or short-term housing in the area, or perhaps if they know of anyone that is subletting. For reference, I'm looking to move in the first week of June and move out...
